Rapicide OPA 28
Rapicide OPA 28 is a ready-to-use, ortho-phthalaldehyde (OPA) based high-level disinfectant intended for the manual reprocessing of heat-sensitive, semi-critical medical and dental devices. The solution is colorless with a mild, distinct scent.
Features
• Ready-to-Use: The product does not require any prior mixing or activation.
• Reuse Period: It can be used for up to 28 days for manual disinfection, provided its concentration is tested.
• Contact Time: For manual disinfection, a minimum immersion time of 10 minutes is required at room temperature (minimum 20°C / 68°F).
• Concentration Monitoring: Before each use, the solution's concentration must be tested using Rapicide OPA/28 Test Strips to verify that the minimum recommended concentration (MRC) of 0.35% OPA is maintained.
• High-Level Efficacy: It effectively inactivates a range of microorganisms, including tuberculosis (TB), Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), and Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE).
• Rinsing: After disinfection, three separate rinses with fresh, clean water are required to thoroughly remove the solution from instruments.
• Material Compatibility: The solution is designed to be compatible with a wide range of materials found in medical devices, making it safe for delicate instruments.
• Low Odor and Irritation: Compared to glutaraldehyde-based disinfectants, its lower vapor pressure results in less odor and reduced potential for eye, nose, and throat irritation.
